Statement of Faith The True God We believe that there is one, and only one, true and living God; that He is omnipotent, omniscient, immutable, and infinitely Holy; that He exists eternally in three Persons: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; and that these three, though One, are yet three distinct persons and are equal in every divine perfection. (Gen. 17:1, Duet. 4:35, Isa. 44:6, Psa. 139:1-7, Psa. 99:9, and I John 5:5-7) God's Son - Jesus Chrust We believe that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God Who exists eternally with God; that He is the only Saviour of the world, sent by His Father into the world to redeem the world. We believe that He took upon Himself flesh and dwelt among man here on this earth; that He was at the same time both God and man. (Jn. 1:14, Phil. 2:5-7, I Tim. 3:16) We believe that He came to earth in the flesh by way of the virgin birth, born of a woman who had never been sexually intimate; therefore He had no earthly father, but was conceived in the womb of this virgin by the Holy Spirit. (Isa. 7:14, Matt. 1:18-23) We believe that He died by way of crucifixion on the cross at a place called Calvary. We believe that He died as man's substitute, suffering the full wrath of God, and thereby He paid the penalty of sin. (Matt 27:22-54, I Cor. 15:3) We believe that His blood which He shed in death at Calvary is the ONLY Atonement for the sins of man, and that it is sufficient to wash away the sins of every person, and that apart from His shed blood, there could be no remission of sins. (Heb. 9:22, Eph. 1:17, 1 John 1:7) We believe that He arose bodily from the tomb, and through His resurrection a sure hope of immortality and everlasting life is given to all who have been saved by Him. (Luke 24:1-7, I Cor. 15:4, Rom. 4:25) We believe that He ascended back into Heaven from whence He came and is now at the right hand of the Father, carrying on His ministry of intercession for the saints. (Luke 24:50-51, Acts 2:31-33, Heb. 7:25) We believe that there will be a personal and visible return of this same Jesus in like manner as ascended back into Heaven; that, in fulfillment of His own promise, He WILL return for His own, to receive them unto Himself; that He will then later return again WITH His own and set up His Kingdom on earth where He will rule for the period of a thousand years, this time being known as the Millennium, thus making His second coming premillennial. (John 14:3, Acts 1:10-11, I Thess. 13:18, Rev. 19:11-16, and Rev. 20:4-6) The Holy Spirit We believe that the Holy Spirit is the Third PERSON of the Holy Trinity and not an abstract power or influence; that He is sent into the world to convict men of sin, regenerate the believing sinner through a born-again experience, and to SEAL the believer until the day of redemption. (Matt. 28:19, John 16:7-14, Eph. 1:13-14, Eph. 4:30) The Scriptures We believe that the Bible is the divinely inspired Word of God written by holy men of old as they were moved by the Holy Spirit; that is does not merely contain the Truth, but is the Truth, and thereby the standard by which all truth must be tested. We believe that God has promised to preserve His Word and that the preserved word of God in English is the A.V. 1611, King James Version of the Bible; therefore no other English Translation (RSV, NIV, NASV, etc. . .) will be considered as scripture. (2 Tim. 3:15-16, Ps. 12:6-7, 2 Peter 1:21, and John 17:17) Man We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God, but that he fell from his perfect state by voluntary disobedience;; that since that first transgression all men are born in sin and have a depraved nature, utterly lacking the holiness required by the law of God; that man is a sinner by nature, choice and practice, and is therefore under just condemnation, without defense or excuse. (Gen. 1:26-27, Gen. 2:17, Gen. 3:1-6, Rom. 5:12, Ps. 51:5) The Church We believe that the true church is the union of all born-again believers, who in their unity compose the body of Christ, with Christ Himself as its Head. (I Cor. 12:13, Eph. 3:3-11) We believe the local church is an assembly of believers, associated by the covenant in the faith and fellowship of the Gospel; observing the ordinances of Christ; governed by His Laws; and exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in them by His Word. (2 Cor. 1:1, Gal. 1:2, Acts 5:11) We believe that Christian Baptism is the immersion in water of one who has truly had a personal, saving experience with Christ. We believe the Lord's Supper is to be open and observed by those who have been truly saved by Christ, and is to be observed only after solemn self-examination; that it is a commemoration of the sacrificial death of our Loving Lord. The World to Come We believe that Heaven is a place of beauty and joy, wherein dwelleth righteousness, where God will dwell with His people forever. (I Peter 1:3-5, Rev. 21:22) We believe Hell is a place of ceaseless torment, characterized by fire and brimstone, a place where all who have not accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour will suffer forever. (Luke 16:19-31, Matt. 5:22, 29, 30, Matt. 23:33) The Devil We believe in the personality of Satan, that he is not merely an abstract power of influence, but a living, personal being; that he is the god of this world and the prince of the power of the air, that is constantly going up and down the earth seeking whom he may devour. (John 8:44, 1 Peter 5:8) The Christian Walk We believe that a person, once he has truly been born-again by the blood of Christ, is a new creation in Christ and that he should live a holy, consecrated life; that he should separate himself from the world in obedience to the command of God. (Col. 2:6, 2 Cor. 5:17, 2 Cor. 6:17-18) The Judgment We believe that everyone, saved and unsaved, shall face God in Judgment. Christians shall at this time be judged according to their works from the time they received Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour until the time they stand before Him in judgment. They shall be rewarded or they shall suffer loss according as their works shall be. All unsaved shall at this time be judged according to their works and be cast into the lake of fire to suffer forever according as their works shall be. (2 Cor. 5:10, 1 Cor. 3:11-15) Sodomy We believe that sodomy is an abomination to the Lord according to the Word of God. (Lev. 18:22, 20:13, Romans 1:24-32) Therefore homosexuals will not be allowed membership. |
